Endodontics

Endodontic treatments and nerve fillings are considered one of the main and most important procedures at Capital Dental Clinic. We have an entire department dedicated to this procedure.

In 90% of cases, we complete nerve fillings for our patients in one session.

Rubber Insulators (Rubber Dam)

These insulators prevent bacteria and fluids from the mouth from leaking into the nerve channel that we are treating. This provides better results and sterilization, in addition to protecting the rest of the mouth from the disinfectant fluids used on the nerve channel during the procedure.

Nerve fillings are carried out at Capital Dental Clinic with the help of the following technologies:

3D X-rays

This technology allows your dentist to know the shape, number, and roots of the nerve canals for every tooth or molar before beginning the procedure. This saves time and gives both the dentist and the patient a clear idea about the time and method of treatment.

Enhanced Vision

The doctors use a medical microscope or wear a magnifying lens during the operation to see all the subtle details that are hard to see with the naked eye. This provides better results for nerve filling procedures. Some cases can’t be treated properly without using magnification. That is why such tools are essential in any dental clinic.

Laser

Studies have shown that using laser before closing eliminates any chance for bacterial growth. That is why it is considered an essential tool at Capital Dental Clinic.

In collaboration with the Fixed prosthodontics department and our own dental lab , we can finish the crown over the treated tooth on the same day.

What are Endodontics?

Interview with Dr. Ahmed AlKaffas

What is the solution for dental caries?

Treating dental caries requires an examination and X-ray to determine the degree of the decay, and whether it has reached the nerve of the tooth or not.

If the decay has not reached the nerve, the problem can be fixed with a cosmetic filling.

If the decay has reached the nerve, we will have to do a nerve filling and install a dental fitting afterward.

In all cases, you should clean your teeth regularly to avoid the recurrence of the problem.

What is the solution for toothache with pressure, hot drinks, and cold drinks?

This problem is usually caused by dental caries. We will need to conduct the necessary examination and X-ray to determine the degree of decay and whether or not it has reached the nerve of the tooth.

If the decay has not reached the nerve, the problem can be fixed with a cosmetic filling.

If the decay has reached the nerve, we will have to do a nerve filling and install a dental crown  afterward.

In all cases, you should clean your teeth regularly to avoid the recurrence of the problem.

What is the difference between cosmetic fillings and nerve fillings?

Cosmetic filling is for the outer visible part of the tooth, and it’s done by removing caries and replacing it with materials of the same color and shape as the natural teeth.

On the other hand, nerve filling is done at the roots of the teeth by removing the inflamed nerve and treating it with methods and materials designed specifically for this purpose.

How much does a cosmetic filling and nerve filling cost?

Cosmetic fillings (composite) cost 1,500 EGP.

Computer-based cosmetic fillings cost 4,000 EGP.

Nerve fillings (root canal treatment) cost 2,000 EGP.

What are the types of dental crowns used after nerve fillings?

There are two types of dental crowns:

  1. Zircon
  2. E-Max

What is the solution for constant pain even after the nerve filling?

Two possible reasons could cause this, and that is determined through the necessary examination and radiation:

  1. The inflamed nerve was not fully pulled and replaced by the nerve filling.
  2. One of the tools used for treating the nerve is broken inside the nerve or tooth root.

And the solution is to remove the old filling completely along with any broken tools then replacing it with a new filling.

What is the solution for pain resulting from the remains of a broken tooth or molars?

We need to perform an examination and X-ray to determine whether the remaining part of the tooth is enough to reconstruct the tooth or not.

If it’s enough to reconstruct the tooth, the solution would be to fill the nerve and support the tooth with posts and install a crown for the tooth.

If it’s not enough, the solution would be to remove the tooth and compensate for it with immediate implants.

What are the dental extraction methods and how much do they cost?
